A friend posted these two really interesting articles about Kodak Inc which became the first corporate casualty of 2012 – ‘The last Kodak moment?‘ and ‘Gone in a Flash, both from the Economist’. Both articles provide some insight into the reason why Kodak, a venerable brand for over 100 years, and for much of the 80s, a corporate powerhouse, met its decline, 132 years after being founded by George Eastman. The gist of it is this: Kodak spent a great deal of its money on R&D yet somehow failed to innovate its products to take account of the digital future....
